Christmas Dinner & Dance - 12th December 2009

This year's Christmas Ball at Woodlands was another success with 53 people present. Helen and Jeanne made sure we knew where we were sitting and what we were eating. The dinner was excellent with a superb service of friendly waiters/waitresses. The generous contributions to our raffle were greatly appreciated and the winners went away with really beautiful gifts.

Bert Worthington was as always a fantastic disc jockey keeping everyone fit on the dance floor. A great thank you to everyone for making not only the ball a success but our whole 2009. Let us hope we shall continue along these lines for our SAGS!

St Nikolaus Evening - 5th December 2009

Around 30 people attended the St Nikolaus event on Saturday 5th December at Highfield Church. Following the service kindly delivered by our very own Pastorin Eva Knauf we had a special visit from Father Christmas (a big thank you goes out to John Faller for making this possible).

The fantastic buffet afterwards was provided by Jeanne Roese who must have been slaving for hours in the kitchen! Thank you so much Jeanne. The evening was a big success and an excellent event to get to know each other better and have a good gossip with friends both new and old.

Classical Music Evening - November 2009

The Locksheath Quartet under Luminita Dawkins performed to a most appreciative and friendly audience of 30 on Saturday 14th November. The musical offerings were delivered with amazing skill, each player a virtuoso in himself/herself - and the hearty applause proved this. After the fantastic performance there was a lovely spread of refreshments and German Sekt, bringing a most successful evening to a pleasurable close. All agreed this will become an annual event not to be missed. Our heartfelt thanks to the musicians who worked months in advance to offer us such a fabulous cultural evening.

Speaker Evening - September 2009 - Mary Rose

On 25th September Alex McKee delivered a most impressive, interesting and touching lecture on his father's noble efforts to bring the famous historical ship, MARY ROSE, literally to the surface. It was a good turnout, although it was a shame that more did not attend as there was so much work put into this event. Everyone present left enriched with knowledge about a great happening in English history. Our sincerest thanks to Alex McKee for his illustrious efforts to offer SAGS a really splendid Speaker's Evening.

Summer Barbeque 2009

Around 50 people attended the annual barbecue at Bowler’s Restaurant. It was a windy day so we retired to the club house, where Bill & his team set up tables to accommodate all participants. The food was tasty and the atmosphere was jolly, with plenty of socialising going on!

Summer Dinner Cruise - June 2009

On 20th June 2009, SAGS hosted its first annual Dinner Cruise aboard the Princess Caroline, sailing out of Ocean Village. It was a stunning event with the highest quality food and wonderful weather.

Wine Tasting - March 2009

On 28th March, SAGS came together with the Totton & Eling Twinning Association to host a wine tasting event, which was a huge success. 12 wines from the Palatinate region of Germany were tested. Many thanks to everyone else who helped!
